Pick up from hotel at 7:00-8:00, and drive about 1 hour to the first stop the Ming Tombs- the burial site of 13 emperors of Ming Dynasty(1368-1644) was listed as the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2003. We visit Changling, the largest of the 13 tombs, to look around of the treasure unearthed from the burial chamber. Second stop, we are to visit a jade factory to learn how the Chinese revered precious gem is carved and spend our lunch hours nearby. The afternoon will be for the Great Wall climbing. As one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, The Great Wall, symbolizing China's ancient civilization, is one of the most renowned projects. Hiking at Simatai Great Wall will be a memorable experience. Simatai Great Wall, which is known for its wonderful, precipitous and fantastic location, is sited at Gubeikou Town in the northeast of Beijing. This section is about 120 kilometers from the Beijing downtown and usually need 2.5 hours to drive there. This section of Great Wall has never repaired and keeps the original features of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall. It not only incorporates the different characteristics of each part of the Great Wall, but also has some styles which are the only one of their kind. This section was built under the leadership of General Qi Jiguang. Professor Luo Zhewen, a famous specialist of Great Wall, says : The Great Wall is best of the Chinese buildings, and Simatai is the best part of the Great Wall. The vaulted halls are built of stone, without a single beam or column. To avoid damaging the marble floor, the surface from the antechamber to the rear hall was covered with thick planks for the hearse to roll on when it entered the Underground Palace, thick planks that can still be seen today.
